The space
They say you can't go home again, but this beautiful, historic 112-year-old home in downtown Waco, Texas proves different. Each visitor is certain to fall in love with its charm and handcrafted details of a bygone era. Constructed in a time when people prided themselves on craftsmanship, the beauty and details remain timeless today. The moment you drive up to the property, you will be greeted by a grand front porch with large columns, carved details, and white wicker rockers—perfect for enjoying morning coffee or sipping afternoon iced tea. Once guests step inside, they will be visually treated to handcrafted decor such as the original stained glass windows, transoms, and the original hand-carved fireplace mantel which matches the design in the original stained glass windows. Hardwood floors, tall ceilings, and even a sleeping porch with original glass windows add to the timeless allure. Other timeless details include a clawfoot tub and a pedestal sink marked with the actual date the sink was constructed. This fabulous home started construction in 1907 and was completed in 1910. It has passed through three more families before miraculously returning to a family member—the great-great-granddaughter of the original owners.

Growing up, she had heard many stories of the home and its beauty but was under the impression that it was no longer standing. Then, serendipitously, on her birthday, in the summer of 2019, a long-time family friend called to see if she knew who these people were that built this gorgeous 112-year-old home and had the same last name (maiden) as she. The friend, looking for real estate in Waco, had stumbled across this gorgeous historic home in downtown Waco, within walking distance to the farmers market, the Silos, and Austin Ave businesses. The moment she heard the description of the home, she knew it was her great-great-grandparents! With blessings from her friend, she purchased the home and has lovingly worked to restore the original beauty while adding modern and personal touches throughout the home. Each bedroom has been decorated with a theme or nod to family members, local artists, and friends.

Our home is within walking distance (less than half a mile) of the Magnolia Silos, Bakery, and the new shopping complex. Also close by are Spice Village, the Farmers Market, interesting shops, and restaurants, and about a mile to Baylor's campus. We are also only 15 minutes away from BSR Cable Park.

The house is beautiful. There was great indoor and outdoor spaces to use. It is located to walk to the downtown area and very convenient. And the hosts were available and responsive immediately. It was a great experience. Would definitely stay here again if in the area.

Stay here!!! Incredibly spacious home, the bedrooms are very large and they are plenty of entertaining/sitting areas if you need personal space to unwind. Sparkling clean & an extremely helpful local guide book of where to eat/what to do. I learned a lot, even as a Baylor alumnus on my second trip to Waco this year. The next best part is the location- we walked to Magnolia, several coffee shops, & the river/suspension bridge. Cannot wait to come back!!

noteel - august 2020

Everything was fantastic! We came here for a women’s retreat and we all were so in love with this house, it was gorgeous and had everything that we needed! Donnie’s weekend fill in Jessica was amazing and responded very quickly when we did have questions etc. I think I can speak for everyone that was in our group that the house was great!

alexandra - september 2020

Our family came from across the US to celebrate our mothers 87th birthday. The house was beautiful, old and gracious, well equipped and senior-friendly. There were so many meeting areas from porches to an eating bar and dining tables to lovely sitting rooms. I cannot imagine a better space for our celebration. Nor can I imagine a more attentive host. What a fabulous few days! Thanks Donnie for all you do to make folks feel welcome

suz - october 2020

Our family enjoyed staying at this big, beautiful old house near downtown. The rooms are large, the beds comfortable and the updated kitchen is beautiful and spacious. We enjoyed dining on the back patio and playing yard games. Donnie was a pleasure to deal with.

sarah - november 2020

Beautiful house with so many warm touches. The coffee bar plus the sunroom will make you want to take a lazy morning and enjoy the sunshine. We loved the space. It feels like home but yet the perfect get-away!
